Vegetable Plants, Salad Plants & Grow Your Own
There’s nothing quite like growing your own vegetables and salad plants, whether you’ve got a full vegetable plot, a raised bed, a few containers or just a sunny sheltered spot by the house.
At Old Oak Farm Nurseries, we stock a wide range of young vegetable and salad plants through spring, ready for planting out when the conditions are right. You don’t need a huge garden to grow your own - pots, containers, grow bags and small spaces can still produce a useful crop with the right plants and a bit of care.
Vegetable and Salad Plants
Our vegetable and salad plant range is usually available throughout April and May, with options including tomato, pepper, cucumber, chilli, lettuce, onions, cabbage, sprouts, broccoli, courgette, celery, corn, radish, beetroot, peas and beans.
Availability changes through the season, so it’s worth calling in to see what’s ready.
Seed Potatoes, Onions, Shallots and Garlic
We stock Scottish seed potatoes from February/March, along with onion sets, shallots and garlic. Japanese onions and garlic are also usually available in September/October for autumn planting.
Growing Vegetables in Pots and Containers
You don’t always need a traditional vegetable plot. Tomatoes, chillies, cucumbers, lettuce and many salad crops can grow well in pots, grow bags and containers, especially in a sunny, sheltered spot.
We also stock compost, grow bags, trays and other growing essentials to help you get started.
